The Magpies Throne, 2025
I often walk along the River Itchen and past St Catherine’s Hill on my way to the studio, and I love watching the wildlife that inhabits the fields. On this particular day it was snowing and bitterly cold when I spotted a magpie perched on the back of a sheep. The stark black and white of the bird stood out beautifully against the muted tones of the landscape, and I was captivated by the quiet companionship of the two together.
