A Path to You

A Solo Exhibition by Jo Rose

Inspired by the landscapes surrounding Jo Rose’s studio in Hampshire, from chalk streams and rolling downs to forest paths and heathland skies, A Path to You is a moving tribute to memory, place, and healing.

Following the loss of her dog, Wolfy, Rose spent a year working quietly, letting her practice guide her through grief. As she walked familiar paths, places once shared, she sought traces of the love she’d lost. What began as a search became a conversation with the landscape: the light on water, the shift of seasons, the wildlife that often crossed her path. But it was the wild, forest ponies that stayed with her most, their quiet presence, their watchful stillness, their sudden, spirited movements. In each moment, she found presence, not absence; reminders that love remains, held gently in the natural world around her.

From this intimate journey emerged a new body of work: a collection of abstract impressionistic paintings that reflect her distinctive style and profound connection to place. Each piece captures the textures, tones, and spirit of the Hampshire landscape, refracted through memory and emotion.

A Path to You will be exhibited this August at Sailors Jail in Jo Rose’s debut solo show.
All works will be available for purchase at the exhibition and online.
