Jo Rose is a contemporary impressionist artist who captures dreamlike visions of animals and the natural world in a riotous celebration of colour, pattern and texture.

Roses connection with nature, and her love of wildlife, inspires her imagination to sing and each painting to evolve like a dance.

Rose travels the South Coast in her mobile studio, combining plein air and studio work with a focus on capturing her emotional experience after being completely absorbed within each natural environment.

Whimsical layers of oil and acrylic paint, bursts of fluorescent brights and mixed-media explode to create Roses signature style .

Rose studied a BA (Hons) Degree in Costume Design and Theatrical Make-up at the London College of Fashion with a view to working in creature and puppet workshops - but her love of illustration drew her to set up her own small publishing company called Funky Faeries and at the age of 23, Rose began designing and selling her range of greeting cards at major retailers including Paperchase, Liberty, Selfridges, Harrods and John Lewis.

After moving to the New Forest, Rose fell in love with the enchanting forest and began to experiment with mixed media, texture and pattern and created her highly recognisable and richly textured illustration style the DEER LITTLE FOREST, featuring her quirky cast of furry, feathered and scaly forest critters, folk-inspired patterns and bold floral shapes.
