So, I’ve finally tidied and closed up my studio for the summer, saying goodbye to my paintings for a little while. I love returning to a tidy studio, even though it won’t stay that way for long!
This week, I also managed to attend an artist networking evening in Winchester, which can be quite challenging for me if my social anxiety rears its ugly head. As the event approached, I felt the familiar churn of nerves, but I reminded myself how important it is to connect with new people, even if it can feel overwhelming and daunting sometimes.
The people were, of course, lovely and it inspired me to continue to push myself out of my comfort zone, even when it’s a little scary. It's easy to get comfortable locking myself away, happily creating in my studio every day, but networking is crucial for artists and every time I make myself do this, I’m not just building connections; I’m also building more confidence to talk about my work and process.
The evening turned out to be a rewarding experience. During this particular event, we brainstormed an exciting opportunity that should hopefully take place after the summer. Have you ever wondered what artists in your area get up to behind studio doors? This event will be for you! It promises to give a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic life in Winchester, bringing together the creative community and offering a glimpse into the studios and processes of local artists.
It’s an exciting prospect that underscores the rich and dynamic art scene in our area and will, most importantly, give me another opportunity to meet and connect with new audiences.
